How my Understanding of Leadership has Changed
Prior to enrolling in this program in the fall of 2019, I did not have much of an understanding of leadership. Through my work in the courses of this program, I have greatly improved my knowledge and skills of leadership. Going into the program, I thought that leadership and being in charge were synonymous. I help the belief that being in a position of power automatically would make somebody a leader. However, since spending time in Public Leadership, I have learned there is much more nuance to it. For example, in class, many times we have discussed the differences between management and leadership. Now, leadership to me means getting a group of people to work together on a shared goal. This also means taking responsibility for the results whether they be positive or negative.
